BAILEY Adopted in July 201
She and Rigby are now constant playmates, racing and wrestling all around the yard (and the house— they love house tag!). Love it when they tug on the same stick or toy!
|
We've been taking her to classes at the local club and she does really well. The teacher is always picking her for the "demo dog," because she learns so fast and she makes the teacher look good!
Maddie isn't in these pictures but she still reigns supreme. Bailey quickly figured out who's really in charge here. And as you can see, Dave is absolutely besotted with her. He's like a teenager in love. She's a hoot!1 |

Thank you all again for helping us get Remy. He is wonderful.
Carolyn and Ken, Domino and Picabo too!
(Adopted Otcober 2010) |

We made a quick trip to Kennebunkport, Maine yesterday. The weather looked great so we went for it. Remy loved all the sights and loved walking on the beach and jetty. He is such a good dog. He is Ken’s shadow. This picture is on the jetty in Kennebunkport. We found a really nice resort that has cabins and is dog friendly. They took all three of our pups!
Thank you for Remy. We love him.

MAGGIE
(Adopted November, 2010)
Persuading her to sit for a photo is not an easy task but John was able to snap this one of her smiling into the camera. The Greenville Humane Society is looking for a new "face" to represent the new facility that will open in a few months and we submitted Maggie's photo. Of course we think she is a winner, whether she is selected or not. She is doing just great. She loves taking walks and runs and riding in the car on short errands. She is a wonderful addition to our family and we think she is as happy with us as we are with her.

We Love Rufus!
(Adopted April 2010)
Everything is going great! What a smart and easy going dog. We are so impressed with him. The first week he wandered around the house as if he was trying to find his place in this new world. But it now seems he is easing into his new home.
He and our Airedale, Brandy, get along famously and love to chase tennis balls down our hallway. We put Rufus on Brandy’s schedule right away to keep them in sync and Rufus got into the groove right away.
Thanks, Mary

| Sophie the "Wonder Dog" (Adopted October 2009) |
 |

When Sophie was 5 (she's now 8), she jumped off the bed and herniated a disk, which then compressed her spine. She was such a trooper through a surgery, physical therapy, even an underwater treadmill and doggy acupuncture! When it was clear she wouldn't walk again, she took to her wheelchair like a total champ. Most of the day, she's contented to mosey around the house using her front legs alone. But for longer walks, she wears her wheelchair; and then she's been known to hike 6 miles without batting an eye. She's always up for a ride in the car, or a walk to wherever. But she also relaxes at home just fine. |

Cora and TJ (adopted November 2008) |
 |
|

|
(October, 2009) We just wanted to touch base about the dogs, and let you know just how much we love them – it’s a love fest! They’ve come a long way since we brought them home ten months ago and seem to enjoy their country surroundings. Cora and TJ were absolutely frightened of everyone, including my husband, when they first arrived. They were also quite frightened of other dogs with absolutely no interest in playing with them. TJ jumped at every sound and had the night frights like you wouldn’t believe and neither knew what it meant to play with a dog toy, they were scared straight of them. Everyday they have gained new confidence and now let most strangers pet them. They are great at restaurants when we take them to outdoor patios and yesterday was a huge breakthrough when they both started playing with toys -- I couldn’t believe it!
We call them our muppets. Cora particularly looks like a little muppet.
Thanks for gracing our lives with these sweet dogs! Read nore about Cora and TJ

Clancy aka “Dudley“ (Adopted April 2009)

|
This week since we've had him he's learning the following:
- Upon arrival he wouldn't go up or down steps. Now, he races up steps up and down.
- He's become very close with our other dog. "McDuff" (see photo)
- He knows his name now and comes when called.
- He sleeps without interruption throughout the night on the end of our bed.
- He has a favorite chair to nap in which we don't mind
- He's very energetic and loves to cuddle
- In the process of investigating every closet and room in the house, is very curious, which we feel is a sign of intelligence.

Dart (Adopted February 2009)
 |
|
 |
We have a new nickname for Dart now "devil on wheels". We are proud to announce he is graduating from his training class tonight- a very food motivated learner, if there ever was one. He and his step-sister Besa continue to play endlessly with each other. We take them to the dog park and they never leave each others' side or play with anyone else (we've tried taking them seperately and they just stand next to us). When we are in the wine country we often look our our window and see them in hot pursuit of each other. Besa really has his number down and knows just the right way to get him to chase her. Dart has grown into a really handsome young pooch. He is blacker than night and has big paws. His bark is a grumble followed by some type of woof but it sounds more like and "eruption" than a bark. He is super gentle with our god children and only snapped at our handyman Larry (his nose to be exact) when Larry refused to let him go. |
Cooper, nee Max (Adopted December 2008)
Max has finally found his forever home after being bounced around three times at his mere 10 months. His new family now calls him Cooper and he loves his new brother Brody.

Shakira (Adopted October, 2008)
We are so in love with our "little girl" Shakira. It has only been a little over a week, and we think she is doing great. She is such a smart dog. We just hope she isn't too bored with us. She is slowly getting used to the folks next door.
Anyway, we are so happy to have her. She sleeps with us and stays the whole night without closing any doors. Keith has started the walks, and she is so excited to get the leash on.
Thanks so much. Lorraine |

Mikey (Adopted September, 2008)

|
Mikey is doing wonderfully, I am totally in love, he and Jake have become quickly bonded and he has been able to bring Jake back somewhat from his depression from losing his best buddy, Barkley. Jake has actually begun bouncing and playing again…although Mikey’s rear leg stand/bounce (like Tigger on his tail!) becomes a little much for Jake sometimes. Mikey is a real character and quite a talker, with a whole variety of vocabulary expressions that actually have their own individual meanings. He also loves playing with all of his toys, although the Squirrels in the Stump, his Beaver and his flashing ball are definitely his favorites. He is an accomplished food moocher as well so we are going through some lessons in “that’s Mommy’s food, not yours!” right now and pretending to be a slow learner. I know that because I have been amazed at how quickly he picks up on and copies some of Jakie’s behaviors…when they fit with something he wants. We have also had to learn the lesson of “you don’t lift your leg on your brother to show you’re actually the boss when your brother is going pee!”, an important one when Mom had just groomed Jake! And he is still a major lover/lap sitter, often sleeping next to me or on top of me at night. Our biggest challenge remains “The Kitty”…they are still trying to figure out how that is all going to play out.
